About Athy Further Education
and Training Centre
The Further Education and Training Centre, Athy is a multi service training and education centre, offering courses to adults and young people. Courses are delivered on a full-time or part-time basis. Many of our courses are certified by QQI. We also offer a Career Guidance services to adults and young people. On a weekly basis we work with approximately 90 full-time students, and between 150 to 200 part-time students.
We offer classes in the following areas; QQI Level Part-time Full-time
English language for students whose first language is not English.
One to one support: Reading, Writing and Mathematics
Beginners Classes: Computers, Reading and Writing, Art.
Intermediate Classes: Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Customer Service, Office Skills.
Vocational Classes: Healthcare, Early Learning and Care, Business Administration, Applied Social Studies.
The building was originally built in the 1930s as a secondary school, with an extension added in the 1970’s. The centre includes of two floors and 18 classrooms. The adult and further education services are housed on the ground floor of the building and outer buildings. YouthReach is housed mainly on the first floor. For child protection reasons adult students and YouthReach students do not share any communal area. There is a wheelchair accessible ramp at the main front door of the building.
Opening Hours
The centre is open from 8.45 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
Our staff are very experienced and are experts in supporting adult learners and young people return to education and training.

As part of our courses we offer a range of student supports including adult career guidance, counselling supports, laptop loan scheme for disadvantaged learners, support for childcare though MyGov.ie, study spaces, supports to learners with disabilities.
