Learning Never Stops: Our Teachers Become the Students

There's a lovely buzz around Athy FETC this week as we wave goodbye to some of our teaching team. They're off on an exciting Erasmus+ adventure, swapping their classrooms here for learning experiences across Europe.

You might wonder why teachers need to keep learning. Well, as we often tell our students, education isn't just something that happens in a classroom – it's a continuous journey. Our teachers are heading off to gather fresh ideas, discover new teaching approaches, and bring back innovative practices that will enrich all our courses.

"I'm both nervous and excited," shares Ciara from our Early Learning and Care teaching team. "It's funny being on the other side of the learning experience! But that's exactly why it's so valuable – it reminds us what it feels like to be a student again."

Our team will be connecting with colleagues from training centres across Europe, shadowing other teachers and discovering different approaches to adult education. They'll be exploring everything from new technology in the classroom to innovative ways of supporting diverse learning needs.

The best part? Everything they learn comes right back to benefit our students. Whether it's new teaching techniques from Finland, digital innovation from Estonia, or creative approaches to assessment from Spain, these experiences will help make our courses even better.

So if you see some new faces covering classes over the next few weeks, you'll know why. And when our travelling teachers return, full of fresh ideas and enthusiasm, our whole learning community will share in the benefits of their journey.

After all, isn't that what education is all about? Learning, sharing, and growing together – whether you're a student, a teacher, or sometimes both at once!
